About Us

Mission Statement

The mission of our church is the mission of God – to reach the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In Luke 19:10 Jesus tells His disciples that He came “to seek and to save the lost.”  And Jesus later tells his disciples in John 20:21 “as the Father has sent me, I am sending you.”

As the church, that is the Gospel baton that we now carry. As a local church that God has planted in North Chesterfield, that is our mission. God’s mission is our mission.

Our mission can only be accomplished through the power of the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8) working through people willing to speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15). Our mission will be accomplished as we seek to be the hands, feet, and mouth of Christ in our community and around the world.

What We Believe

The Baptist Faith and Message 2000 serves as a summary statement of faith for Parkway Church North Chesterfield.

God, Bible & Jesus
God – We believe in one God existing in three Persons:  God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit (Matthew 3:16-17).

Bible – We believe the Holy Bible is God’s inerrant and infallible Word and has full authority in our lives. Though methods sometimes change, our message remains the same (Isaiah 40:8).

Jesus – We believe that Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life, by Him ALONE can a person be saved (John 14:6).

People
We believe people were created by God, loved by God, but have sinned and “fallen short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).
Eternity
We believe that we will exist eternally, either separated from God by our sin, or eternally with God through trusting in Jesus’ shed blood alone for forgiveness of sins and salvation (Romans 2:6-8).
Relationship
We believe that by God’s grace, through faith in Christ, our sins can be forgiven, and we can have a personal relationship with God (Ephesians 2:8-9).
Marriage
We believe that marriage and family is foundational to society and that they are God’s idea. Marriage is a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman before God (Genesis 2:24).
Salvation
We believe that once you are saved and are a part of God’s family that you cannot lose your salvation and that a born-again believer is eternally secure (Titus 3:5).
Gifts
We believe that all Christians are gifted by the Holy Spirit and called to serve God and others for His glory – that all members are ministers (I Corinthians 12).
The Church
We believe that the church is made up of born-again believers. The church exists as the Body of Christ at large and operates through the local church (Ephesians 1:22-23).
Great Commission
We believe that we should keep our focus on the Great Commission and be willing to sacrifice in whatever way so that people may hear the good news of Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:18-20, Acts 1:8).

Our History

Our story as a new church began long ago in the heart of God.  In 2019, the Lord revealed His desire to begin a new Gospel work in North Chesterfield County to Pastor Derek Futrell at Parkway Baptist Church in Moseley, VA and Pastor Derek shared that vision with the church body there.  Along with Pastor Mac Hutton, his wife and family,  and a launch team of 13 Parkway families following God’s leading, Parkway Church North Chesterfield’s journey as a church began. Parkway Church North Chesterfield (PCNC) held their first service on Easter Sunday 2020.  God continues building His church and we trust the Lord for our next steps of obedience as we seek to be a church that reaches its neighbors and nations with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Missions

“…and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8

Fueled by the last recorded words of Jesus before He ascended into heaven, we support and engage with missions partners locally, nationally, and internationally, with the goal of making disciples of Christ among all peoples. We support our partners prayerfully and financially, and also seek opportunities to work directly alongside them in specific outreach efforts. Our support for international missions is primarily through the International Mission Board, but we also partner with other specific missionaries with whom we have relationships.
